The annual NAWBO conference was in San Diego this year, so we decided to drive
the new Corolla out there
again
and visit a few relatives along the
route
.
We stopped in Athens GA, Lafayette LA and San Marcos TX to visit relatives.
We had packed camping gear and managed one night at Guadalupe Mountains National Park before
the heat incentivized us to hit the road again.
It was much cooler the next morning when we watched the balloon launch from the municipal
park in Deming, NM.
We spent a whole day in Tucson looking for rocks, then on to San Diego.
Rod visited the Midway aircraft carrier museum, while Suzanne attended her conference.
After San Diego, a couple of nights were spent in Las Vegas so Rod could see some of the
casinos Suzanne had described from her previous trips there.
The weather turned cooler and wetter as we entered Utah, giving us a morning in the
Arches National Park
that was significantly different from our previous trip made in July in 2002.
Increasing rain and decreasing tolerance for taking pictures of more red rocks
put us back on the road home,
with a break in South Bend IN along the way.
