Suzanne had to catch her plane back to NJ from Portland, so after visiting relatives in Ashland OR, we visited Crater Lake.

Due to forest fires it was quite smoky and took some time to clear up on the day we visited.

With all the haze obscuring distant features, we had to concentrate on closer objects.

Some of the subjects came quite close.

Others came even closer.

We drove around the rim, but the only trail we picked for hiking, that to "The Watchman", turned out to be closed due to excessive erosion.

We only walked down a couple of switchbacks on the Cleetwood Trail to the boat dock.

Having some time to kill in Portland, we walked around the Hoyt Arboretum and visited the Japanese Garden which has the following view of the Portland skyline.
