We spent one day on Mackinac Island, traveling over from Mackinaw City in the morning and back in the evening. The island is partially a State Park, and partially privately owned. There are multiple places to stay on the island, but no motorized transportation allowed, just horse drawn and bicycles.

Typical transportation, this version was for tour groups. Bicycles were found everywhere, rental establishments were all over the downtown area next to the docks, interspersed with myriad fudge shops and the typical "souvenir" shops.

More transport, and some of the housing. Lilacs were in bloom everywhere.

The Boy Scouts had guard duty at various places in the State Park, with a whole barraks building above the fort.

There is a big hotel on the island, as well as many B&Bs. The best view of it is from the water approaching the island, rather than from this angle.

Some of the buildings in the village.
